What Could Get Buffed in PoE2 0.5.5?

What Could Get Buffed in PoE2 0.5.5?
As Path of Exile 2 moves closer to version 1.0, Grinding Gear Games (GGG) has been putting more focus on improving weaker parts of the game instead of simply nerfing whatever is currently too strong.

Patch 0.5.5 could bring some important buffs and reworks. Here are the areas I think are most likely to receive attention.

1. Buffing Weak Skills

One of the biggest problems in PoE 2 right now is that some skills are simply not worth building around. Even with good gear and investment, they can feel far behind the popular meta skills.

GGG could increase their base damage, improve how they scale, or give them new interactions with other mechanics.

This would be a much healthier approach than constantly nerfing the strongest skills. Instead of making the best builds weaker, GGG can make more builds worth playing.

2. Improving Melee and Weak Weapons

Melee has always had a harder job in PoE 2. You need to stay close to enemies, deal with dangerous attacks, and often deal with slower animations.

Some weapon types also feel much less attractive than others.

Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.5.5 could improve this by adding better skills, smoother animations, stronger effects, or more interesting weapon mechanics. The goal should be simple: make melee feel good to play, not just technically viable.

3. Giving Damage Over Time and Chaos Builds More Power

Ignite , poison , bleed , and other damage-over-time builds still have room for improvement.

These builds can sometimes require a lot of investment and complicated scaling just to reach damage numbers that other builds can achieve much more easily 💔

GGG could improve their base damage, scaling, or supporting passive nodes. Chaos damage is another area that could benefit from more interesting interactions and better build options.

If done well, this could open the door for several completely different playstyles 🧠🧠

4. Buffing Weak Ascendancies

Ascendancies are a major part of what makes a character feel unique. However, some ascendancies and individual nodes are clearly more attractive than others.

GGG could buff weaker nodes, introduce new passives, or redesign mechanics that currently feel underwhelming.

This would give players more reasons to experiment instead of automatically choosing the strongest ascendancy for a particular build.

5. Making Life and Armour More Competitive

Defence is another area that could use more variety.

Energy Shield has become a very attractive defensive option because it can scale extremely well in the right builds. Meanwhile, life, armour, and some hybrid defensive setups can feel less rewarding.

Rather than simply nerfing Energy Shield, GGG could make the other defensive systems more interesting and powerful.

That would give players more meaningful choices when designing their characters.

Good luck, exile! Stay sane!
