Diablo 4 Season 15 Hellfire Torch Guide: How to Get the Mythic Charm

Diablo 4 Season 15: Season of Hell's Legacy brings one of the season's most memorable endgame challenges back to Sanctuary: Old Tristram and the three Prime Evils.

The secret encounter lets you face Diablo, Baal, and Mephisto together for a chance at the Hellfire Torch, a Mythic Unique Charm designed to open up new endgame Talisman combinations.

Getting there is not as simple as walking through a portal, however. You'll first need to uncover Deckard Cain's hidden memories, collect his Journals, farm three rare Prime Evil Splinters, and craft Wirt's Lucky Coin.

This guide walks through the entire process and explains how to farm the required materials efficiently.

What Is the Hellfire Torch in Diablo 4 Season 15?

The Hellfire Torch is a Mythic Unique Charm introduced in Season 15.

Its base affixes include:

  • +10–20% All Stats
  • +10–20% Resistance to All Elements
  • +1–4 to All Skills
  • Can equip 1 more Unique Charm
  • +1 Set Count to a randomly selected class Talisman set

(Hellfire Torch with 2 GA)

The Hellfire Torch adds an extra Unique Charm slot and can roll +1 Set Count, allowing more flexible endgame charm setups.

This makes it valuable not only for its power, but also for optimizing Unique and Set Charms.

How to Get the Hellfire Torch

The complete Hellfire Torch progression can be summarized as:

10 Deckard's Journals → Unlock Old Tristram → Farm 3 Prime Evil Splinters → Craft Wirt's Lucky Coin → Open the Tristram Portal → Defeat the 3 Prime Evils → Hellfire Torch

Let's break down every step.

Step 1: Unlock Old Tristram

Return to the Imperial Library and find 10 Deckard Cain's Journals scattered across Sanctuary. A green circle appears on your minimap when you're near one.

After collecting all 10, return to the Imperial Library and interact with Cain to enter his memory and unlock the path to Old Tristram.

Missing a Journal? Check your quest progress to see which ones you've collected.

Step 2: Farm the Three Prime Evil Splinters

Once Old Tristram is unlocked, your next objective is collecting three rare materials:

  • Splinter of Terror
  • Splinter of Destruction
  • Splinter of Hatred

These correspond to the three Prime Evils:

Prime EvilDungeonSplinter
DiabloThe LabyrinthSplinter of Terror
BaalWorldstone KeepSplinter of Destruction
MephistoDurance of HateSplinter of Hatred

The Echo Prime Evils are the main source of their corresponding Splinters. Drops aren't guaranteed, so repeated farming is required.

Torment 10+ is the relevant difficulty, with Torment 12 recommended for farming efficiently

How Rare Are the Splinters?

This is where it is important to distinguish between observed farming results and an official drop rate.

The P4wnyhof's experience was approximately:

  • Around 10 runs for the Splinter of Terror
  • Around 10 runs for the Splinter of Destruction
  • Hatred was still missing after the same testing period :/

These numbers should not be interpreted as an official drop rate. They simply demonstrate how much repetition may be required when farming these materials.

Step 3: Craft Wirt's Lucky Coin

Once you've collected all three Splinters, you're ready to create the key required for the final encounter.

Put the following into the Horadric Cube:

  • 1× Splinter of Terror
  • 1× Splinter of Destruction
  • 1× Splinter of Hatred

Transmute them to create: Wirt's Lucky Coin

The three Splinters are consumed in the process.

This is the item that allows you to activate the hidden Tristram encounter.

Step 4: Open the Old Tristram Portal

Return to Old Tristram and interact with the fountain while carrying Wirt's Lucky Coin.

The fountain opens a red portal to Echo of Tristram, also known as Uber Tristram.

Inside, you'll face all three Prime Evils at once:

Diablo + Baal + Mephisto

Defeat them to complete the final encounter and farm the Hellfire Torch.

The Efficient Baal Farming Loop

Once you have the route memorized, the farming cycle becomes extremely simple:

  1. Enter Worldstone Keep.
  2. Rush through the optimized route.
  3. Kill the required enemies and Baal.
  4. Collect the loot.
  5. Leave the dungeon.
  6. Open the map.
  7. Reset the dungeon.
  8. Repeat.

What About Lair Bosses?

The P4wnyhof's result was poor :(

20 Lair Boss runs produced zero Splinters.

That does not establish a universal drop rate or prove that Lair Bosses cannot drop them. It simply means the method produced no Splinters during that particular test.

The "Everything Farm" in Season 15

One of the most interesting aspects of this farming strategy is that the Splinter grind can double as a general endgame farming loop.

While repeatedly farming Baal, you're not only working toward the Hellfire Torch.

You're also accumulating:

  • Gold
  • Horadric Dust
  • Mythic loot
  • Legendary Seals
  • Greater Affix items
  • Gems
  • More

How to Farm Hellfire Torch Efficiently

If your goal is to obtain the Torch rather than simply experience the encounter once, the practical strategy is:

1. Unlock Old Tristram first

Don't start farming Splinters before you've completed the Journal requirement and unlocked the full progression.

2. Build a character capable of farming Torment 10+

The faster you can clear the Prime Evil dungeons, the more attempts you can make per hour.

3. Learn the Baal route

The difference between a two-minute run and a much longer inefficient run becomes enormous after dozens of repetitions.

4. Treat the loot as part of the reward

Gold, Souls, Dust, Mythics, Seals, Greater Affix gear and Gems all contribute to your overall progression.

5. Farm with friends when possible

The final Prime Evil encounter is more enjoyable and can be easier to organize with a group.

6. Don't mistake personal drop results for official drop rates

If you get a Splinter after three runs, that doesn't mean the drop rate is high.

If you go 20 runs without one, that doesn't necessarily mean the item is bugged.
